About Myself

Professional

I have been professionally programming (specializing in PHP & MySQL) for over five years.

I started my IT career as a Quality Assurance Specialist, from there I was promoted to Business Analyst. While continuing to work for the same company as a business analyst I was mentored by the lead developer. I started learning web development with two books covering HTML and JavaScript. After creating a few web pages, I began learning PHP and MySQL. After several successful personal projects and a few sites for friends, I then started working as an independent contractor.

A short while into my career, I was hired as the sole developer on a very large project (over one year in duration). The company I was working for hired several offshore developers to assist in development. By project end I was managing three developers and a designer, with the official title of lead developer.

As you can see I have professional experience at all levels of the software development life cycle, having worked as a quality assurance specialist, business analyst, and application developer, throughout my decade long career.

Personal

I have recently relocated to the Phoenix metro area, in sunny Arizona. I enjoy going to the gym and riding bikes around the city. When I’m not outside or in front of a computer, I like to cook and read books (mostly fantasy & horror, with a few classics thrown in).
